With women becoming more aware of their own bodies, health and wellbeing, not to mention environmental concerns, it’s easy to see why menstrual cups are starting to become a real alternative to traditional tampons and sanitary towels.
As I’ve mentioned before, I’m originally a Mooncup gal, so I’ve always been reluctant to try different menstrual cup brands!
With that in mind, I tried out the cost effective and reusable Lunette Cup to see what all the fuss was about.
The Lunette Cup has its origins in Finland, but has been on the UK market for around a decade, generating plenty of positive reviews across the world. A proven global success, the Lunette Cup is on a mission to become a mainstream product.
Lunette Cup Review : Sizes and Specs
The Lunette Cup is a reusable product that can last for up to 10 years, making it a much more cost effective solution than disposable towels or tampons. Made from medical grade silicone, it is user friendly and safe to use, coming in a choice of two sizes to suit all women. Lunette Cup Model 1 is aimed at teenagers and younger menstruating women who have never had children.
This smaller model is made of even softer silicone for added comfort and ease of use and is ideal for those who have a light to moderate flow. With its 25mm stem, this cup holds up to 25mL and measures 41mm by 47mm.
Don’t forget to get some Lunette Feelbetter Menstrual Cup Cleanser to keep your cup squeaky clean!
The Lunette Model 2 is geared towards women who have had children and more mature women. Although made of more firm silicone than Model 1, this cup is still soft, flexible and comfortable to wear. This model has a shorter stem at 20mm, measures 46mm by 52mm, and has a larger capacity of 30mL, making it suitable for those who experience a heavier flow.
Lunette Cup Review : Special Features
The Lunette Cup can last for up to 10 years, making it a great value, long lasting product. It is completely safe to use, having been approved by the FDA as well as manufactured to both Finnish and Australian standards. The Lunette Cup has frequently topped the polls among women, who have expressed a preference for this brand over many of the other available menstrual cups on the market and it has been sold all over the world to great acclaim.
The Lunette menstrual cup is suitable for use by teenagers and virgins as well as more mature women and is practical to use, only requiring emptying between 2 and 6 times a day depending on your flow.
Pros and Cons
There are numerous good points about the Lunette Cup, with its design being particularly well thought out. Its stem is especially effective, making the cup easier to remove, and the larger holes featured in the cup’s rim make cleaning and washing simpler. The fit of this product is much better for many women thanks to its smaller size, and yet the Lunette Cup capacity is still high and its shelf-life just as long.
On the downside, the Lunette Cup is a little more expensive than some other brands, although its long lifespan makes it worth the investment.
